Bailey Dee Schweitzer
“She has definitely always been a ray of sunshine!”
Bailey Dee Schweitzer was born on April 5, 1997 to Scott and Crissy Schweitzer. Her older brothers, Dakota and Brody, were fully aware that Bailey was the only girl born in the Schweitzer family for the last three generations, a role she loved. She has 7 boy cousins, the family calls it Snow White and the 7 dwarfs. When the boys started to marry, she was very excited to start receiving girl cousins though. She was ‘daddy’s little girl’, daughter and best friend to her mom, a big little sister to her brothers as they turned to her for advice at times, cherished by her grandparents, and adored by her niece and nephew. Bailey’s favorite role in life was being an auntie to Kenzley and Kayden.
Bailey attended Centennial High School in Bakersfield, CA, where she was a cheerleader and an active member of the school’s Random Acts of Kindness club. The family has started a scholarship there in her name that will carry on for many, many years. After high school, she attended one year of junior college and then took a full time job as a receptionist at Infinity Communications while still taking on-line college classes. Infinity and Bailey fit from the first week of her working there. They have described her as their “bright sunshine right when you walked through their front doors”. Bailey also worked at her family’s race track and was such a huge part of taking part in all areas. She started her interest at the young age of 10 when she asked to run a register in the concession stand...to serve hundreds of people through her window...and so she did! From the souvenir/sugar shack, keeping score, interviewing and hiring concession staff, to social media promoting, she did multiple tasks every single weekend. She also loved watching and cheering on her cousins and brothers as they raced. You could find her always sitting side by side with her dad in his scoring booth. The track will never be the same. The family has made changes in her honor as they have painted the family section and the sugar shack in her favorite color - teal. Many, many drivers have her logo on their cars (some even her picture) and have even added the color teal as well. The family has been blessed with all the support from their race family. Bailey touched so many lives.
Her favorite past time fun was concerts concerts concerts! She has attended so many different genres of concerts in her short 20 years of life and was very very excited for the Route 91 Harvest Festival. The family business had held events at their race track during the past years of the festival, and she was unable to attend the first three. She could not wait for 2017! This was her first chance, and she bought her tickets the very day they went on sale. She attended all three days with her mom and best friend.
Bailey’s faith was strong, so much so that she had “Saved by Grace” tattooed on her arm. Her mom later got this same tattoo on her arm in honor of Bailey on the one year anniversary of losing her. Bailey posted a picture on Facebook in 2013 of a hand-written note that said in part: "Nothing in life is easy, so make the best of all of it. Don't dwell on the negatives. Optimism is key." To say that Bailey was a positive light in her world is an understatement, and the reason her family and friends started the #LiveLikeBailey. Her light and love is still evidenced in the large family who misses her daily, and work hard daily to keep her spirit alive.
Bailey held each one of her immediate family members, niece, nephew, cousins, aunts and uncles in a very special spot. She loved visiting so many of them in LA and taking trips to the coffee shops near the beach. When events are held in Bailey’s honor, you are sure to see a sea of her favorite color, teal, everywhere.
She is missed immensely, loved by all, and will never be forgotten!!
